Google Maps : mapping the indoors

“Where am I?” and “What’s around me?” are two questions that cartographers, and Google Maps, strive to answer. With Google Maps’ “My Location” feature, which shows your location as a blue dot, you can see where you are on the map to avoid walking the wrong direction on city streets, or to get your bearings if you’re hiking an unfamiliar trail. Google Maps also displays additional details, such as places, landmarks and geographical features, to give you context about what’s nearby. And now, Google Maps for Android enables you to figure out where you are and see where you might want to go when you’re indoors.

Audi A9 hybrid sports sedan is a futuristic layout for the luxury sports cars. The car looks very much like the BMW’s Vision Efficient Dynamics Concept. Design of the car has been done by famous Spanish designer Daniel Garcia who had earlier carried out the design for Ducati 6098 R concept. So far Audi has manufactured A1 to A8 models, and the new A9 is just another addition to it’s A series cars.

Nokia 701:Handset Review

Nokia gave a pompous debut to the first trio of Symbian Belle software update loaded smartphones — Nokia 701, Nokia 700 and Nokia 600. Out of these three, we got lucky to receive the best of the three — Nokia 701. Loaded with the neat looking Symbian Belle operating system, the Nokia 701 comes with fancy set of features, functions and interesting bunch of pre-loaded applications.

Nokia has stepped in with couple of first with Nokia 701 — it's the first Symbian Belle device, first to have a 1 GHz processor among Nokia handsets and first with a 'functional' Near Field Communication chip. Most important is its 1000 nits brightness spreading display which measures 3.5-inch. Amongst the three Symbian Belle handsets, the Nokia 701 remains to be the high end.

NASA launching 'Curiosity' to explore Mars

As big as a car and as well-equipped as a laboratory, NASA's newest Mars rover blows away its predecessors in size and skill.

Nicknamed Curiosity and scheduled for launch, the rover has a 7-foot arm tipped with a jackhammer and a laser to break through the Martian red rock. What really makes it stand out: It can analyze rocks and soil with unprecedented accuracy.

BlackBerry Bold 9790 offers a standard BlackBerry form factor, with a physical QWERTY keyboard and a 2.44-inch screen with a 360 x 480 pixel resolution.

Nokia to launch Windows 8 tablet by mid-2012

PARIS (Reuters) - Cellphone maker Nokia plans to launch a tablet that runs on Microsoft's Windows operating system in the summer of 2012, the head of Nokia France told Les Echos newspaper in an interview published on Wednesday.

10 new search algorithm changes

Search giant Google has provided an insight into 10 changes it has made out of the 500 changes it makes in a typical year to its search algorithm.
“Our goal is to make search run so smoothly, you don't even notice the changes,” said Google’s distinguished engineer Matt Cutts.
“These changes improve everything from translation, to snippets to autocomplete,” he said on Google’s official blog.

The Desktop Summit 2011 was held in Berlin, Germany, from 6-12 August 2011 and was the second joint conference of the GNOME and KDE communities.
